Dear all,

I've tried to look online (Gronze and the actual websites) to contact these albergues to check if they'll be open through October, but haven't been able to get in touch. Is anyone along these routes at the moment and/or have any idea?

* Albergue Izar in Viana

* El Peregrino in Atapuerca

- I've heard that not many albergues will be open in October. All goes well, I should have walked up to Pamplona by October. Are there any areas from Pamplona onward where accomodations are mostly closed in October?

*Also, are the Municipal shelters heated? Checking because I might be walking into the colder part of autumn. I've got a sleeping bag, would that suffice? Thank you very much.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
In past years some private albergues started to close mid October but some place was always open. During this continued Holy Year many places might stay open through October and later.

In Viana the Gronze guide lists Albergue Izar as open during October. Furthermore the municipal albergue in Viana is open year round.

For Atapuerta El Peregrino is listed as open March to October but the Hostel La Plazuela Verde is listed as open all year.

There is no norm; some places are heated others not. A sleeping bag will be useful as is a set of clean clothes to wear to bed/bunk. Walking late autumn you must be prepared for the cold and even possible snow in the mountains.

Good luck and Buen camino.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
On two fall Camino’s ending late October, I’ve always found most everything open. I don’t think they start closing until November.

Is there a list of albergues that also have private rooms on the Camino Frances? Gracias.
