The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I am beginning from SJPP on August 15, staying over at Orrison that night.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
My wife and I are leaving St. Jean on August 17th. Maybe we will see you along the way. :D

My wife and I arrive in Madrid on 14 August. We're taking the bus straight from the airport to Pamplona and will stay one night there for jet lag catch-up, then on to SJPP on the afternoon of the 15th. We start the Camino on August 16, and will spend the first night at Orisson. I suppose we'll be running into some of you who are leaving on the 15th or 17th somewhere along the way. To quote Buddy Holly, "Ev'ry day, it's a-gettin' closer..."

For those planning to stay fist night in orrisson, what time do you start your walk from sjpdp?

It's a very casual 3-4 hour stroll up to Orisson and it's good to arrive there by 5.30pm at the latest. That gives an hour to get settled in before the communal dinner is served at 6.30pm.
So I'd suggest leaving SJPDP anytime up til say 2pm to do it very comfortably and enjoyably.
Buen Camino

Unless it is 38 degrees, then it no longer is a casual walk. Make sure you have sun protection and plenty of water. Take it slow and easy. I thought I was prepared, I was not.

Hi thanks for the replies and messages! I'm leaving on the overnight Lunea train from Paris on the 17th and planning on staying in SJPDP for one night on 18th but having read some tips. Orrison sounds like a good idea and book in advance being summer and all. Would you do a night in st jean and a night in orrison or just a night in orrison? Cheers c

If you decide to start walking on the 28th from st jean, send me a post. I'm arriving on the 27th and will start on the 28th.
