Camino Frances in 2012
Hello pilgrims
Has anyone walked the Portuguese Camino in winter - I am looking at doing this in early January 2015. I walked the Camino Frances alone in Nov/Dec 2012 so experienced usual weather (snow/a little rain etc).
Thoughts and advice much appreciated

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Look through the earlier threads on the Caminho Portuguese - I recall a blog/link written by a man who walked in Jan with his wife and a nephew from Lisbon onward - interesting read.

Fellow Forum member Violinpatrick wrote a blog, Blue pony Walks the Camino Portugues, re walking north from Lisbon starting in January 2013. Here is the first entry of his blog.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I think if you are looking for solitude and you don't care about the weather you will be fine. You may also consider that you will have to walk on pavement at times when the trails are to risky. When I walked the full Camino from SJPT in March 2013 there were many times when we had to walk on the street. Also remember many of the Hostels will not be open. I would do another Camino walk in a heartbeat but I would never do it in March again.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi, I am a newbie to this forum--Hellooooo Everyone! I am thinking of doing one of the routes in January 2015 I have about a month or so… Which do you recommend? Any advise is welcome. My thinking is to do the Frances trail start mid January-- also looking for other walkers--as well.

Hard going trying to finish in one month for Jan/Feb.
Average of 25km/day , with some days getting a possible drenching.

Hi MD, I haven't done it yet but my wife and I will be on the trail around Feb 5, 2015 starting from Porto and going to Santiago. I've made a few post to date and I am just getting back to the forum after a brief hiatus because of a busy December, so if you catch up to some of my previous post you will have an ideal of what we are planning as a trip.

Enjoy,
Andre
