Rome2Rio is a great website to check what your options are.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I suppose you have a particular reason to go to Pau, because the usual airport (and easiest way to SJPP) will be Biarritz/Bayonne.
So. There is a bus from Pau airport to train station every hour; a taxi is possible, too.
From Pau, the easiest, stress-free way to SJPP is train to Bayonne, then another to SJPP. People in France travel mainly by train for a reason; buses are secondary options.
If the schedules don't suit you, another option is train, bus or taxi from Pau train station to Orthez, then buses 809 and 810 (there is a transfer in Saint Palais) to SJPP. See schedules here.

Rome2rio suggests Buses 809 and 810, which is a Transportes 64 bus, from Orthez. You need to make a connection from Pau to Orthez by train. It says the trains run hourly and the buses are twice daily.
There are trains to Bayonne direct and via Dax several times a day. Then you take another train from Bayonnne to SJPdP, I would not try to look this trip up as a combined itinerary.
I know nothing about how to get to the airport in Pau to the trains station.

At the time of our arrival, we end up somewhere along the line overnight. We will likely take a car or taxi, and yes I am aware of the expense
If anyone can recommend a service, that would be great
Thanks again

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
You will probably find the train and/or train and bus solution better than a car hire. I am not sure there are many agencies where you could return a car in SJPdP.

The bus or train leave us overnight either in Bayonne or orthez
So the cost of a taxi is justifying

I heard that Express Bourricot is setting up regular service from Pau during the G7 Summit at the end of August when the airport and train station will be closed on Bayonnne and Biarritz.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
This is for Wednesday
I’m sure it will all work out

figured it out, shuttle from airport to Pau train station, train to Bayonne, Bayonne to SJPdP
Thanks all for your help
