Camino del Norte the one for me

Camino Frances
Time of past OR future Camino
del Norte 15,16, 17
Portuguese 14 Lisbon to Coimbra
13 Lourdes over somport
10,11 and 12 - French
Just finished 9 days on the Camino del Norte from Irun to Santander - great experience. Signs, variety, good albergues, no fleas!!, 22-24 deg, friendly pilgrims - did skip Bilbao to Portugalete by metro, don't enjoy walking all day through a city. Great coastal views and inland forest walks.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Sounds good! How long did it take you? Do you remember what the longest stretch between accommodation was? I would like to get an idea of what distances I would need to be able to walk to do the Del Norte. We only walked about 20km or less most days on the Camino Frances. I think the longest we walked was about 27km one day.

I waled the norte in June last year and kept the daily distances around 20. In some stages I kept the distances longer to reach a specific town but bus it in and out of those major town to keep the waking distance around 20k. I posted "my impressions and stages of the norte" in this forum....you can search here.

Need some advise.

Our group is walking SJPDP to Pamplona. Then we take a bus to San Sebastian for our final 2 days of walking on the El Norte.

Should we take the train to the start in Irun? or begin walking south from San Sebastian?
Is one stretch more scenic than the other?

Thank you

Irun start means a very dificult day. Do you want your group,to ever walk the Camino? If so, after SJPP to Roncesvalles, you may want to give the, a break and start in SSeb. But I ask myself, why these etapas?

We walked the last segment of the Camino Frances two years ago. This time well will start in SJPP. With limited time Pamplona seemed to be a good stopping point. I'm not sure about the others in the group, but I plan to eventually walk the full Camino Frances. The reason for the etapas is that one of the group wanted to walk along the coast for the last two days and visit San Sebastian and Bilboa.

Thanks

I started walking is San Sebastian, but heard that Irun to,Ss,is as beautiful,as,it is difficult. If walking alomg the coast is your criteria, I believe starting in Irun or San Sebastian will be equalymbeutiful.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
The first week from Irun is beautiful but arduous. We took all the "alpista" recommended routes. It got us fit in a hurry.

We started from Bilbao for timing issue, but heard from other piligrims that the first segment it is hard, often up and down...but it seems that it is a must. However from Portugalete on, you will meet very beautifull landscapes. Some time the way is the carrettera, no safty, but few cars.
About albergue, there are, but fe Place on each, avere is 20 Place, but you can fine also private.
We walked for 18/20km per day, but you can do less or more, you need to plan your etapa.
Enjoy y buen camino.
