Is anyone starting from Irun Aug 22/23?

Time of past OR future Camino
Have completed all of Camino Frances 2013
Just wondering if anyone is starting the Camino Del Norte from Irun around Aug 22/23 this year? Also wondering if it is necessary to book accommodation along this route or if there is generally a bed available at Albergues? Thanks, Brooke

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
There will be many folks starting from Irun on those dates. August is popular.
The Norte is becoming popular as an alternative to the Camino Frances and the crowds.
However...prebooking is not necessary. If you do encounter a "wave" of walkers causing full albergues...you can choose to book a night ahead.
San Sebastián, day 2 or 3, can be an exception as it is a very special tourist destination and can be crowded.

Don't worry about it as you can just fit into the flow very easily.
Enjoy the Norte.

Thanks! And can I get a passport from the Albergue in San Sebastian the day before I walk?

The Turismo in San Sebastian used to have a supply of credentials and I imagine, still do. They would certainly know where they are to be obtained. In larger places, the cathedrals tend to have credentials. Credentials are also available at the albergue in Irun and, of course, from your national pilgrim association.
