Is it necessary to reserve a place to sleep in a refugio at the start (Irun) first week of September ?

Well you could stay two nights in San Sebastián, get a bus to Irun after first night, walk first stage without your pack, and stay there a second night..

Why not stay in a small hotel in Irun the night before you commence your walk. That’s what I’m doing.
