Time of past OR future Camino
20th July 2023
Hi, I am planning to travel to St Jean on the 19th but I will arrive in the evening and the only bus appears to be at 12pm. Would anyone want to share a taxi or have any advice on how else to get to St Jean.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Start in Pamplona instead.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Possible injuries, a few stamps. Along the way no-one cares and it’s barely meager bragging rights.

The advice I’m hearing from the ppl who start way earlier in France is that it’s kind of wild that those two stages are the first two days for a lot of ppl.

I’m right before Burgos right now and ppl I met in St Jean are taking all sorts of easy days or flat out quitting because they pushed it too hard in the beginning.

First week is all about getting into a nice rhythm and listening to your muscles and your bones. A little bit of a shock to the system starting in the mountains.

Of course there’s ways to break up those stages or take your time with them, but since you’re already at a traditional starting along the Camino I say why bother.

I agree, start in Pamplona, or take a taxi to Zubiri and start there.

If you want to get to St Jean, lurk round the station taxi rank and look for backpacks. It’s highly likely you’re going in the same direction.
