This seeks to answer the most common questions people have about the Le Puy route before starting out, and provides practical information on the route, accommodations, and available resources. Besides an introductory chapter on the route in general, the country through which it passes, and the terrain, it includes the following sections:
- Route-finding
- Guidebooks (and apps and gps tracks)
- Accommodations
- The Food
- Winging It or Making Reservations
- Your Fellow Travelers...
Thank you Andy. We are intending to walk the Via Podiensis in 2021, having previously walked the Frances, the Portuguese from Lisbon and the Norte. We were able to relate perfectly to your comparisons and found your advice very, very helpful for our planning.andycohn submitted a new resource:
The Way of Le Puy: All the Stuff You Wanna Know or Oughta Wanna Know Before Starting Out - How to navigate the Le Puy route, a practical guide to information and resources

How do I get this information, do you sell it? I am new to this site, so unsure of my way around it yet. Thank you, pamelaandycohn submitted a new resource:

Your information was AMAZINGLY helpful! Thank you so much Andy! Did you like the Camino Primitivo? Camino Norte? Would you suggest combining the two?No, no. I don't want to make money off it. Trying simply to be helpful. Just click on the "download" button, or on the blue text of the title, and you'll have it. Hope it's useful. If it is, you could always write something nice as a review, and then other people might be steered to it, too. Also, always happy to answer any questions that might arise.
I used Gronze, but not for the gps tracks. The Le Puy route is constrantly changing, and I found that the only accurate gps track of the ones I checked out was the one with the Miam Miam Dodo app. (I also tried the All Trails map, and the track from the Dutch cofraternity that you can download onto maps.me. Both were out-of-date).Thank you for all the information. I’m curious if you tried to use the GPS tracks from Gronze and what you thought. Also, did you get the Miam Miam Dodo app from the App Store? At the moment it appears they only have a version for the Frances. Hopefully the Le Puy version is available elsewhere.
Thank you - I’m definitely thinking ahead - likely 2021 or 2022 but that doesn’t stop the early research! I found the Gronze downloaded tracks to be incredibly accurate on the Arles last year (GR 653.) That route is very inconsistently way marked. Some sections were excellent, others sorely lacking. Good to know Miam Miam Dodo has regularly updated tracks.I used Gronze, but not for the gps tracks. I also just checked the Apple app. store and the Google Play app. store for android phones. Both had the Miam Miam Dodo app. available. The trick is that you first download the app, then within the app. you purchase the specific route you want, in this case the LePuy / GR65 route. Hope that solves your problem.
Assuming you're not headed out right now, you also might wait to buy it until later in the year when the 2021 version is available. As I mentionned, the route itself keeps changing and in this time of covid, it's likely that there'll be a significant shift in accommodations and services that survive.
Andy, is the info still available. There is no download button I could find. I clicked on “blue text line” and is just brings me to the summary page. Help. No, no. I don't want to make money off it. Weird. When I try it, there is an orange button which says "Download", which takes you right to the text. In any event, here's the link again: https://www.caminodesantiago.me/com...or-oughta-wanna-know-before-starting-out.732/Andy, is the info still available. There is no download button I could find.
