Time of past OR future Camino
Starts May 19 2023 from Porto or Ponte De Lima
Hi. A friend and I are doing the Camino Portuegese for the first time from tomorrow May 19. We only have 8 days to navigate the route. Any recommendations where to start from ? We are choosing between Porto or Ponte De Lima. Thank you.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Eight days from Porto is extremely ambitious. Between those options, I would choose Ponte de Lima.
That’s what I have read too. I guess it would be fine to our Pilgrim’s passport at Porto and start in Ponte de Lima.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

FWIW, I took 8 days from Ponte de Lima to Santiago:
Ponte de Lima to Rubiães
Rubiães to Tui
Tui to O Porriño
O Porriño to Redondela
Redondela to Pontevedra
Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis
Caldas de Reis to Padrón
Padrón to Santiago de Compostela

Wow thank you for sharing this information! Can’t wait to start tomorrow !

If you only have 8 days, I would start at or near 100 km from Santiago… probably Tui if you’re doing the Central route. Make sure you get 2 stamps/ day from that point. This allows you the flexibility of a rest day if you need it.
