I have met some pilgrims in their 90s, but only one actually walking on the Camino -- back in the 1990s.

The others were all former pilgrims, two of them priests, 2 or 3 having walked theirs in the 1950s.

ALL of them excellent pilgrims !!

One of them had walked his own Camino in his 80s, so I think that was in the 2000s. He was quite frail in his 90s, so I was most impressed.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I was talking to a reasonably elderly pilgrim today who just returned from her Camino Portugues that she had done with a friend. She said that the volunteer in the pilgrim office told her, after congratulating her for completing her Camino, about a 97 year old pilgrim who had recently completed his six week Camino.

Well that is all I needed to hear. Thought 2026 would be my 2nd Camino and last one because I’ll be 70. Reading this…time to end that limited thinking 😊👍

Definitely no reason to stop at 70--unless there is some compelling reason or no interest. :)

Yes get rid of that limited thinking. I finished my 9th. Camino, the Camino Inglės three weeks ago and plan to be the first Irish person to walk the Camino Estonia in June, next year. I was 80 years old on 9th. January this year.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc

I will also say definitely no reason to quit. I did my first Camino Francis 2016, I was 72. Said I would never do anything like that again. Two years later 2018, now 74 did Lisbon to Santiago. 2020 rolls around we were going to do Camino Francis again, Covid stopped that adventure. 2022 things are open, now 78. Completed the Francis, spent time in Santiago, Porto and Lisbon. 2023 now 79, had plans to do the Portuguese Costal, medical condition stopped that pilgrimage. Next year I will be 80, come hell or high water I will do the Portuguese Coastal. So, don’t give up for age factors. The Camino calls, it’s provides thoughts, visions, friendships and memories that will last the rest of your life. Buen Camino my friend

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Rufina is an inspiration to all Puerto Rican pilgrims! Her first one at age 85 was the Camino Portugues. This time when arrived to Praza de Obradoiroh said very enthusiastically she was ready for a caña (beer)! I want to be like her when I grow up! 😃😁
