Santa Fe de Mondújar to Nacimiento

Time of past OR future Camino
may 2023
Hello, we are planning on leaving Santa Fe de Mondújar at dawn and hiking all the way to Nacimiento. Has anyone else done this? We understand that the route is strenuous however we are experienced backpackers. Advice anyone?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

According to Gronze, it’s about 28 km. That’s about the same distance and over similar terrain as the more usual stage from Alboloduy through Nacimiento to Abla. There is probably a little more total elevation gain on the stage you are planning, but I don’t think it should make a major difference, especially if you are experienced. Rocky riverbeds, and a few rocky descents are the standouts on those initial days. I think you will be fine! Buen camino.

Is it doable? Of course, if you want to.
Do keep in mind though that between Alboloduy and Nacimiento (km3-6 in between to be specific) is probably the steepest bit of the entire Mozarabe, with very little cover or shade. Personally if it's a hot day I wouldn't want to do that in the afternoon sun, but if you're comfortable with that, go for it!

I just saw an article in the Guardian about "the best ancient sites in Europe," of course a subjective judgement. And one of those listed was a Spanish site listed that's right on the Mozarbe out...
