SIM card question: when replace my current SIM with the Spanish SIM, will I need to reload all the apps (basically, start from scratch)?

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
No, the apps are stored in the phone memory, not on the SIM card.
The SIM card is only holding your "phone identity", plus a few phone numbers.

The only thing on your US SIM card is your US number, everything on the phone itself stays the same.
Make sure your phone is unlocked before you fly over.
