Holy week 2022

Time of past OR future Camino
Porto to Santiago (2019)
del Norte, from March 22
Hi everyone. I am to start Camino del Norte 16th March. I could be in Galicia during the Holy week, but being a slow stroller, it's hard to say where I am. I am not tied to the Briery. I understand there are few or no problems finding accomodations, but what is it like with restaurants and shops. Are there days they will be closed? I also register that one should make sure to have cash enough for this periode, since it does happen that ATMs are empty. Other things to be aware of?

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Bergsvein,
On this list of Spanish holidays
April 14, 15, and 18 are all listed.
Some restos and shops will close but not all. If you plan to eat in a special place on Easter do book ahead. You might also find some major accommodations ie casa rurales or small hotels booked for the Easter period.

Do also be prepared for more people traveling. As you noted getting money from an ATM before the Easter weekend is a good plan.

Carpe diem and Buen camino.

There will be Easter floats in the bigger towns throughout the week. Check with the locals on timing and street routes. See picture of one such float in 2019 Easter Week. Enjoy.DSCF5137.JPG

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I'm not sure where you got this impression. It might be right - I don't know much about the options at the end of the Camino del Norte to judge - but I would be careful about drawing this conclusion for April 14-17.
Thanks for your comment. Conclusion drawn by following the threads about the holy week, but that in itself is no guarantee for being correct. Also watching Efren Gonzales films0 from last year where he takes us day by day through del Norte. He found the albergues topped up, but pensiones and hostals had rooms available. But if I get as far as to Easter I recon I have some idea about where I can head for on a daily basis, and book accomodation accordingly.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Not sure on the Norte, but having been in Spain on Holy Week several times, places will be difficult to find in some villages/cities. Lots of people go "home" for the holiday and lodgings fill up fast. I'm planning on being in Manresa for Holy Week but booked my lodging months ago. Also we found some places closed. Carry food just in case.

I agree. I started booking months ago as I'm arriving in Seville apr 5th and starting my walk on the 8th and there are several villages/towns where I haven't been able to book yet, but I have the time to Easter mostly booked. Then I'll play it by ear once I"m on the ground.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
