Thank you so much for the great tips. Brilliant footcare advice there, I’ve taken a copy of it as it will no doubt be useful. Have just looked up Topo Ultraventure 3 and they have them at Berg Freunde where They also sell Altras. Have just bought a new pair half size up but will certainly...
Hi folks I’m due to start my second Camino in 2 weeks time. I’m sure a lot has changed since September 2019. During my last Camino I followed all the great advice here and didn’t get a single blister…. my morning routine was to smear my feet with Vaseline and cover with talcum powder before...
Hi there Im planning my 2nd Camino for September next. Since my last Camino in 2019 I’ve had Issues with an old injury where I broke a few vertebrae years ago and have since been diagnosed with cervical spondylosis. This just means I have to be careful with my backload. As I need to buy a...
@peregrina2000 thanks for that. Because of the wide toe box in the Altra's I was concerned about chaffing especially with insoles (Altra dont seem to do insoles). Maybe I'll just go for the socks or get the silicone ones a bigger size and tailor them....
Looking for some advice about the best type of socks to wear with Altra Lone's - just bought the 4.0. Read many threads about various socks but wondering if there are socks suitable for the Altras? Someone suggested wearing insoles but again, would these be suitable? Thanks for any advice on...
Just checked again... The quote I was given (€141.99) was from Biarritz airport to Gite Makila. Sorry, my mistake here.... trying to sort everything at once then forgetting what I have done. One of the reasons why the Camino is so attractive.
I was looking for a handy place to stay in SJPdP as I need to get my pilgrim pass and one of the pilgrims here (going in the same direction) had just booked a room at Gite Makila and I took it from there, booked a room on booking.com. This site offers a 10% reduction on taxis..... Meantime I...
@stratophile Very grateful for this advice ..firstly about the descent into Roncesvalles I will definately be going for the road as it sounds like the more sensible option. Glad to have that Ferme address in Huntto (writing all these useful tips into a small notepad) . I spent a long time...
Well done on doing the journey in 8 1/2 hours! I find the descents worse and since its my first day not willing to chance injury. Good to hear of the short stops though.
@ stratophile thanks for your advice. Like yourself, I always feel I could walk forever, however as a first timer and not used to mountainous terrain, have decided to cut the journey in 2 . Looking into the Valcarlos option.
Im not in a race, have just 7 days and want to enjoy the journey.
