I went with a friend last May. We saw 4 pilgrims the entire hike. Very well marked. Beautiful. Use Endor's guide, make reservations, take snacks and dress warm. I'm 67. I'd love to do it again.
The Convent in Laredo was a most memorable stop for us. Notable because of the hospitality, singing, pilgrim service, and communal meal. The sisters prepared soup and bread. While the pilgrims went into town to purchase food to share. Afterwards, we all cleaned the dining room. It was great.

We finished the Salvador about a week ago, in mid May. During the 5 days we saw a total of 2 Spaniards and 2 Fins on the Salvador. In many of the towns we passed thru, we never saw any townspeople. It's quiet, beautiful, tough and an offering of solitude.
