    Did you frame your Compostela?

Yes, I did. I placed the three from Santiago, Finisterre and Muxia with my passport opened at colourful pages all in the one large frame. I am very proud of the display and it takes pride of place in our lounge room not far from the Papal blessing my wife and I received at our wedding 30 years...

    Anyone tried toe socks?

I bought a pair and thought I had better try them out before I started the Camino. As I came downhill after walking on the nearby mountain, I felt the pressure start to build on the nail of a big toe. By then it was too late; another toe nail turned black and on the way out. Although I tend to...

A local real estate agent uses yellow arrows on their advertising signs. I keep ending up at properties for sale.

    Late October Camino Frances

I walked last October arriving in Santiago on 2nd November. Some albergues and cafes were starting to close but still plenty open; more than adequate. Take a raincoat. Enjoy.

    Community Guitars in Albergues?

In Sarria, I stayed at an albergue named Don Alvaro where the hospitalero lit a large open fire, provided a variety of liqueurs (help yourself) and encouraged anyone who could to play on the house guitars. Everyone was invited to sing along. It was a really great night and all gratis. Watch out...

    Nationality Flags/Patches

Iqualmente, Buckeroo. I also enjoyed yours. Did you meet Marcel from the Neatherlands? He is doing the Porto route as we speak and I would love to be there. Have you any thoughts of returning? Good day Si, I have the patch from this site sown onto my bushwalking backpack. I will proudly display...

    Nationality Flags/Patches

Si, your Alabama patch should have taken pride of place. We all loved your accent; especially me but I never saw another.

Other than rug sack what small bag to carry

Thanks for the tip Norelle. I have two walks coming up in the next month and as I am always conscious of weight, this is just what I was after. Wish I had one on the Camino.Just ordered one. Cheers Grant.

    Does anyone NOT like Pacerpoles?

I once found myself walking alongside a woman who liked to use her hands while she talked. Lovely lady but she forgot she had a stick in each hand. Imagine throwing a broomstick through the spokes of a bike's front wheel while at speed; that's what happened to me when her stick found its way...

    Are the albergues heated?

Ha ha... and I saw some with fire places.

    bed bugs 2013

I walked the whole Camino staying mainly in albergues without even seeing a single bed bug and was starting to think they were a myth. Then I too found one while staying in a hotel in Santiago. It was crawling along my arm while I was sitting in bed reading. Then I saw its mate hiking across my...

    A packlist for your consideration

Wow, that is a very comprehensive list. You've really thought this through, but you'd better throw in a trailer to tow it all. Seriously though, I probably took less than half of that and still dropped some items off and had other stuff I never used. Got some great ideas from this forum for next...
