Yes she is insured, but the injury she has (for which she visited a hospital) is too much to deal with right now. She's been searching for her bag and belongings today, going back and forth on bike. Asking locals and emailing other albergues. We... -

CHi @Carla M.! Thanks for your message! I'm at work now and don't have a scale to weigh everything on its own, but I can tell you for sure I saved the most weight on my clothes, which I got from REI, an outdoor equipment co-op here in the States...
