Wow that really is mud! Last year we walked in a Galician drought. I guess weather is one of the things that makes each camino unique. Enjoy the rain and the sun when it comes out.

I really liked Spanish Steps also published as Travels with My Donkey -one man and his ass on the road to Santiago, by Tim Moore. It also convinced me that walking alone and carrying a minimal pack is easier than travelling with an animal.
I guess everyone is different and has to find their own solutions. I tried taping, creaming, covering, wool etc The solution for me was to keep my feet dry. After many blisters, lost toenail and several days walking in toe socks and sandals I found my method. Three natural fibre sock changes...
I would be interested in reading a guide. The distances between stopping places sometimes look quite long. I walk comfortably between 20-25 km per day.
