Hi Laurie,
We enjoyed the walk very much and got to see parts of Portugal and Spain others would never see! We are in Paris now for the last night of our trip before heading home tomorrow. I think it will all sink in after I get back and start going through the huge amount of photos I have...
Piogaw I wasn't doubting their legitimacy - only commenting that they were still there! I had no problem with them, and if I hadn't already booked I probably would have stayed at one of them after the number of times we spent ages trying to figure out where our hotel or hostel was!!!
there were still lots of "old ladies" that met us at the bus in Finisterre a few days ago! Also a number in Santiago at the Cathedral and a few other even the train station somewhere after we finished the Camino!! We had already booked places, so they lost interest in us pretty quickly!
We did the same as a few others and got a vodafone sim as we walked out into the airport. it was $15 for 500mb data. We didn't use the phone at all, but used skype for talking to the family each night. Facebook for uploading photos along the way and trip advisor and booking.com to book our...
We just finished the coastal route of the portuguese Camino and can say the portuguese food was very good! In Lisbon we were advised to go to a little local restaurant (I am sorry I can't remember the name of it) but the waiters were very good at explaining things to us. Just remember that...
Hi Laurie! So glad to hear you made it!! We are in Vila do Conde tonight! We did get a little lost at one point, but knowing we had to head to the coast made it easy! Love to hear more about your Camino when you are rested up!
We are about to head out to do this route tomorrow - well that's what we are planning anyway! I will be blogging about it along the way on www.ellaleah.wordpress.com so will try to give some information there! There are a couple of good threads about the coastal route which really helped me in...
I am in Porto and heading out tomorrow - will update this thread with anywhere I say along the way and thoughts about it. At the moment we are staying at the Rivoli Cinema Hostel and it is great - highly recommended! Lots of fun activities and the bed was good. It is also close to the cathedral.
Hi everyone, Thanks so much for the information on this thread. My daughter and I are in Porto and will start walking the Coastal route tomorrow. We are really looking forward to pulling on the boots and heading out! I am blogging the trip here in case anyone is interested...
I have walked with a few packs - both men's and women's. the first time I wore one of my husbands packs and it was horrible! I ended up with bruises the size of my hand on both hips. After that I bought my own! My next pack was a womens style, and it was ok. It took a few years for me to find...
Hi Heather,
My daughter and I are heading out from Porto on the 9th October and taking the coastal route. We have allowed 14 days to walk, but we have a couple more weeks in Spain afterwards so we won't be in a rush!
It sounds as though we will miss each other, but I hope you have a great...
Hi Dora, I was originally planning on walking out from the cathedral, but I am now considering taking a train or bus to motsinhos. We are planning on staying in private accommodation, so have been putting together lists of places in case we need to book ahead or find something quickly! I spoke...
Hi musicman,
Thanks so much for that list! Can I ask if you booked ahead or just found places when you got there? We're any of the places hard to find if you had booked ahead?
Cheers
Ella
Hi Scott
I haven't yet walked the Camino, but have done a lot of tramping (up to 9 days in a row - starting out with a 23kg pack) in New Zealand and I always take my DSLR. I have in the past taken a couple of lenses and even tripods as well, but I now have my equipment at the minimum of the...
Hi Scott,
I am from Brisbane and have just quit my job and will be walking with my daughter around the same time. We are doing the Portuguese coastal route starting around the 9th oct. I hope your Camino is everything you need!
Cheers
Ella
I am about to start my first Camino in Oct so haven't yet had the Camino experience, however I have shared bunks with 40 people many times in New Zealand DOC huts. You can pretty much guarantee that with that amount of people you will get a couple of snorers. I know that because of the limited...
Hi - my daughter and I will be leaving for the coastal route on the 9th Oct and would be keen for any info or blogs anyone has! We are following the same route as was listed earlier and would particularly like info about private accommodation and food! Would also love to hear your experiences...
