Absolutely! Tape the moment you start feeling a 'hot spot'. This will stop the friction, which might result in blisters.
The tape I use is called MEDISILK, easy to tear, you won't need to use scissors or teeth...
Just tear a piece and press it on, allowing for stretching of your foot as...
I find that a shocking answer and I think you should have your ear pulled for that reaction. Consideration should come from both sides, obviously you are not of that opinion.
Some are going anyway? That is not a good idea. The advice is not given to annoy people but to protect them. There are times that pilgrims have died there because they lost their way in the snow or due to hypothermia. Others have been luckier and were rescued by the bomberos.
Is it fair to...
We walked from Roncesvalles (having finished there last year from the Le Puy route) on the 10th of April and were lucky to get a bed. Many who came after us were not so lucky. After that I made a booking each night for the following day and was glad I did. Many people had to keep going to find a...
A beautiful way with very few fellow pilgrims and certainly also a physical challenge would be the camino mozarabe starting in Almeria or Malaga. It is stunningly beautiful and peaceful. I really don't think the Frances is for you. The most crowded camino of all. Google both. Portuguese also...
What annoys me most of all is those who regard and treat donativo places as free and take more than they need without paying for anything. Often seem to have plenty of money for drinking and dining though and in some cases money for public transport as well, so that they can get to the next...
We did this in 2015 and I can tell you where we stayed. Of course a lot may have changed between then and now. I'll start by giving you this name and number

It looks like I should bring my sleeping bag so. The weather has been atrocious there lately and it doesn't look like it's improving just yet..
Today I took out my sleeping bag and added a pair of leggings and my warmest polartec fleece (to replace the lighter one I had packed originally). This...
I hope to start the Camino Mozarabe from Almeria to Cordoba on April 9th. Will I need to bring a sleeping bag or will my silk liner suffice? I am trying to cut down on my weight but don't want to be cold either....
Looks to me you're a pretty fit guy! Re ruptured disk it may make sense to have your pack transported for you otherwise I think you are ready to go. Buen camino!
Yes I understand. Thank you for your excellent suggestion.
I have started a doc where I picked out different bits and put them together for easy reference which I will update each month. It's such a good guide re maps, elevations etc. There is nothing I want to leave out really
I know the feeling and might be called a camino junkie as well. Unfortunately I have never had the opportunity to walk such a long camino in one go. I wish you well pilgrim, may every step be a joyful one!
€20 per day maybe a bit low though - cost of accommodations alone will be higher now since...
I am carefully following this thread. As I indicated erlier on an old site, I intend walking this route during April of this year. Hopefully we will start out on the 9th. I found the facebook page with the updated guides. There is even one for February now - they are really on the ball and...
Hi Jim,
Would you be able to start walking earlier and later in the year rather than in summer?
We are also in Ireland and I wouldn't dream of walking during the summer months especially in southern Spain. The Norte and Primitivo might be allright...
We are hoping to start from Almeria early...
I always carry a large and long T-shirt that I use as a nightie and sometimes when all else is on the line, I wear it as a dress. I wear this to and from the shower. Extremely comfortable and a great cover all, also handy to wear when doing my hand-washing immediately after arriving. Weighs...
