The Hawker Harrier fighter jet caused quite a problem in one conflict. It could fly fast and slow and it could take off and land vertically. Maybe thats the anti smuggling aircraft they should have used. The most technical term I know is VTOL.
I'm also on the CF at the moment. Everything seems calm a lot of pilgrims are not booking ahead and are not having any problems. The lady in my Albergue booked ahead for me in Boadilla tonight. The Albergue asked for a picture of us both which we obliged. So I guess I'm not on a wanted list. So...
Thank you Rold Gold for your post. You reassured me as I start CF soon and its good to get updates from those on the ground. I hope all continues to go well for you.
I also use the double layer socks mentioned above. They are marketed on Amazon in UK as blister free socks. I always get the more expensive ones and until now have worked well.
When I was researching before my first Camino I can remember a warning not to wear two pairs of socks.
I've used expressbourricot and found them very good. I'm using them again on the 22/5 I'm on the Stansted flight. I see you're new. They don't have any desk at the airport, they just come to pick you up. So hang around the entrance and they will find you. Buen Camino.
If you cannot find the accommodation that you want and you're prepared to get a taxi and stay in a hotel near the Camino. If you click on booking at the bottom of this thread, this is Booking.com. They will show you alternative accommodation near the Camino. If you take as example Larrasoana...
If you want the route select Body on your screen. My phone does the same as you if you don't select Body you go to Burgus.
When you get to booking Trecile did a good explanation on how to use WhatsApp to make a reservation.
Thanks Trecile. Thats exactly as it worked for me. They asked me for a credit card number to confirm reservation and then they sent me confirmation in English by email. I think they could see I was struggling with my Spanish.
I made a booking today for later this month in Larrasoana in San Nickolas Albergue. I used WhatsApp in the Wise pilgrim app. There is a template and you just fill in date and name. I got a reply within 10 minutes. All done no worries.
Once when I entered Sahagun early in the morning. I could smell the bakery as I walked along the street. When I got next to it the workers were loading the bread into a van. I commented to the van driver that I was pleased to see it. He spoke to me in very good English . He then started to...
I'm in the uk at the moment. Looking at my weather app for your area everything looks fine at the moment. Its showing a band of rain approaching from the west tomorrow. Then Wednesday and Thursday it seems to develop into showers with light snow towards the north of Ponferrada. Its looking very...
On my last CF I had tea all the time and I did not have one complaint. I always asked for tea with lemon. Nearly all cafes did the tea in an amazing variety of tea pots. I found it it all wonderful and I'm looking forward to doing the same next month. The only time I used tea bags, which I...
Hostal HIspano in Najera is showing availability for tonight on BDC. I have stayed there and found it very good. It is located in a good area 5 mins walk to left just before crossing the river.
If you check today's weather in north Spain you will see the temperature is in the high teens. Last week it was snowing so this gives you an insight into what everyone is saying. Its a case of finding a happy medium.
You can look forward to the cuckoo greeting you on some of the way.
In May
he...
I started CF on the 19th April. Its a very nice time to start. Very good posts already, all I can add to help you is I can remember being cold at night and also starting in the morning sometimes frost. Quite heavy snow showers at O Cebreiro. It improved after that and was quite warm. I managed...
This is for information only, please don't shoot the messenger. Yesterday I watched a video from the US. They were comparing how El nino effects the weather in the US and in Europe.
Their forecast for this winter in Europe is that the north of Europe will be colder and dryer than normal...
My poncho hood has a visor attached to it which comes down over my face. Like you I also wear glasses and the times I have walked in the rain I found it worked quite well. This particular poncho is an all singing and dancing model in that it can cover my back pack, it has a heavy duty zip at the...
