    Accommodation issues (a warning)

We don't mind at all which town to stay in, right now we are following the Gronze guide stages but it isn't necessary for us to follow them. We don't want to walk too long stages though, ideally below 30, 18-25 km being the sweet spot

    Accommodation issues (a warning)

So, I've now arrived in Bilbao. I have almost every night booked, but I hate private accomodations. I want albergues and the community, otherwise some of the soul of the camino gets lost. Any advice on which of the following 7-10 stages I could cancel my reservations and expect to successfully...

    Accommodation issues (a warning)

I'm reaching Bilbao tomorrow and I thought I'd chime in with some updated info on the first week of the camino. * San Sebastián is really expensive. There's on donativo on the way in, which is also a bakery. Walked by it by accident, they told me it was an albergue. Didn't know about...

Lost & Found Glasses lost on the first stage

Hello, My boyfriend lost his glasses somewhere on stage 1 between Irún and San Sebastián, so he's now a bit heartbroken and also half blind. We aren't sure when it happened, but he thinks it must've happened at a water fountain, removing them to splash the face. Probably the one in Lezo, by...

    Accommodation issues (a warning)

I've noticed that Gronze base their prices for temporada baja, i.e winter season when there aren't many tourists and there are lots of available rooms... Many places charge quite a bit more during the summer months, sometimes double the winter price. I wish Gronze would be more transparent about...

    Accommodation issues (a warning)

Before the pandemic I did SJPdP-Santiago completely without booking, only staying in albergue and I was fine. I was shocked to not be able to find housing for less than €20 in Santiago, when the rest of the trip had been €10 or below a night. This year, I'm doing Irun-Ribdadesella and I've...

    Accommodation issues (a warning)

Not surprising, but the housing options from Sarria to Santiago are reporting 95% fully booked/reserved for the rest of the summer https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfd4MTlMoPk/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y%3D

Can I use my EU National ID card instead of carrying a passport around Schengen?

The ID is valid for all of EU, yes. Due to the passport crisis in Sweden they have been making a lot of news statements saying how the ID is the way to go unless you're leaving the Schengen area.

    Place to stay in Ribadesella

Yes, but fully booked. Everything on Gronze appears to be fully booked! Was hoping for some non-gronze solutions, like a señora that hosts peregrinos. There's some old phone numbers and names in the Facebook groups, but from 2018-2019 so I don't know if these people are still hosting peregrinos...

    Place to stay in Ribadesella

Thanks for the reply! They're both completely full, the Arbidel only has around 4 nights left available between now and mid-August, but nothing for when I need it. I found a good resource for housing on ribadesella.com too, so I'm calling all that aren't on booking but so far they only say...

Advice needed with Camino del Norte route

Instead of Guernica and Lezama I'm stopping in Markina-Olabe/Mendata-Morga/Eskerika-Bilbao. This is mainly due to wanting to prebook and having read people have run out of beds in Guernica. Stopping just before and after allows me to walk by Lezama without staying there.

    Place to stay in Ribadesella

Hello, I'm soon heading out on the camino del norte and as per recommendations on this forum, with many albergues being closed and it being peak holiday season in Spain, I've tried to book ahead as much as possible. After leaving Llanes I'm hoping to get to Ribadesella, but I haven't found...

    Beginning in 4 days

I would definitely book San Sebastián ahead of time! They don't have much in terms of albergues, but some regular hostels as well as hotels and Airbnb.

Camino del Norte - August 2022 accommodations?

I started booking rooms last month, for July-Aug. I noticed quickly that the options on booking.com was expensive, but the ones *not* on booking were cheaper (€50-60 for two people private room, compared to €80-90 on booking). The key is to find their old, old websites and email or call them. I...

How many days Irun to Santander?

I'm doing Irun-Santander in 13 days, and I've cut up some legs into two. For example I'm doing Irun-Pasaia, Pasaia-San Sebastian. I think 11-12 seems normal/realistic.

Albergues open on norte route april/may 2022

I'm planning to start in Irún on July 16th and I've been looking at all accomodations in the Gronze. Everything that you're able to book, are showing double price on booking.com than the Gronze estimate... Probably because I'm planning to walk when it's peak holiday season. Most accomodations...
