The gratis pilgrim lunch at the parador Hostal dos Reis Catolicos was awkwardly and uncomfortably served by Michael Portillo today. By the time filming had stopped, the normal convivial atmosphere in the dining room had changed, we all felt a bit used. First Simon Reeve sitting in a train saying...
Happy to contribute, did it last year in Spring if that's any good, highs and lows, gave value to the Porto to Santiago bit. Returning home tomorrow from Santiago after stint at Miraz, contact you when settled if you want

Just finished the Levante at Zamora, no time to complete camino Sanabres, the forecast is bad weather, so happy not to tarnish my memory of when I did it on VDLP, that was a magnificent walk.
It is a pity my memory won't be so memorable of the Levante, but then you have...
This posting has been transferred from Camino Sureste area, most of it relates to Camino Levante.
Arrived Alicante to join Levante at Almansa via la Lana or Sureste. I am using the Amigos of Valencia guide (old English guide) the very useful information from bjorgts and Pergegrina's info and PDF...
Actually Laurie, have been thinking about the Via Francigena for a couple of years now and get the CPR emails, but think I'd miss Spain, it would be a fulfilling pilgrimage though. I'm sure you'll enjoy the mountains, get to walk with wolves and bears in the Picos I believe.
Hope you have a...

The plaza Mayor here at Tembleque is unique, very beautiful, you feel the history, it is still shored up in one place. Haven't met any pilgrims since Santa Ana at Caudete, I believe there are a couple of Spanish, a couple fro Germany and an English woman, but they are between a week or two...
The problem is at Minaya, I stopped there for a coffee and at Antolin I followed the arrows, after a enough time for me to wonder when San Clemente would appear the yellow arrows turned into ones with a blue background, my heart sank, and when I came across a Quijote marker with San Clemente...

I am finding this camino the toughest one so far, amongst...
The monastery will definitely be open, I think it's open all year. I attended the Palm Sunday service there last year, and with a bit of luck I'll be doing it again this year. Sobrado is a very special place as is Miraz of course, which will be opening at Easter
Tempted to make my way to Norfolk now I know it's not a cultural cul de sac. Probably just end up in the pub behind the Sainsburys in Worle instead with that bunch of cider drinkers. Hope you get a good turn out
Looks like I'm going to miss you Nalod. Pity. I'm about to catch the bus to Sobrado then walk reverse camino to Miraz, through out the day tried telephoning, emailing and texting the hostel but no response, I've past through the village when I did the Del Norte so not that surprised. This is by...
Even though its raining again enjoy the last bit. Miraz is in Galicia, tomorrow I will check bus times etc, so should be able to meet up before you return. Just had supper in the pilgrims dining room, Germans, Dutch, Italian and a Maltese all on the Frances camino, plenty of snow on that one. So...
Hi Nalod,
Pleased you're enjoying this camino, I found it just got better and better, easy, pleasant and enjoyable walks, good scenery and interesting places.
I'm poised to enter Santiago, just 15k. I will stay until the 20th and then I'm off to Miraz for a stint as a hospitelero. Will have to...
A fantastic day, no rain, sun most if the time a very beautiful walk, few cars, beautiful country tracks over the hills to Rubiaes. Cold fairly isolated Albergue, couple of restaurantes down the road, no wifi, a lovely shop/bar.
Today from Rubiaes to Tui another very enjoyable day few cars many...
