I have managed with my limited skills to add the file. Please note that all the information is now a couple of years old, and there are sure to be other options and some may no longer be available. I hope this is of use. Joanne
Message me your email if you'd like my list of the accommodation we used in 2014 (more or less 20km apart). It may be out of date, but is a starting point. Buen Camino
We mailed our bags from Lisbon to Ivar using the postal service. We made a mistake with the address. My bag arrived but the other didn't. We found this out while walking but after an extensive discussion in a village post office where we had Spanish and she only Portuguese we managed to get the...
We walked along the coastline. It was beautiful and an pleasant change from the roads between Lisbon and Porto. Perhaps not the "official" route but a Camino to Santiago nevertheless. I blogged about it and included where we stayed (Albergues few and far between) with distances (20-25km per day)...
We walked from Lisbon last year. Once we go to Porto we decided to hug the coastline as much as possible doingthe litoral. We only had Brierley and were a bit anxious. Google maps were a great help where we had uncertainty and we visited the tourist info places in each large town we came to...
Thanks for the tip. Did enjoy TertuliaUOTE="Viranani, post: 348206, member: 38350"]Congratulations, Joanne!
Isn't Ivar a gem?
By the way, if you're still there in Santiago are you going to the Tertulia? It's wonderful even without the Camino Forum company, and with it even better...
Th
I walked into Santiago yesterday from Lisbon (coast from Porto) having walked the Camino Frances last year. This forum has been invaluable to me. Thanks so much for all the advice and information. Special thanks to Ivar for the luggage storage service (we posted bags to Santiago from Lisbon...
At the Pousada de Peregrinos San Amaro (just before the Meson de Pulpo mentioned in Brierley) we asked if there were any rooms nearby. For €30 for a double room with private bathroom we were picked up and taken to the Hotel San Martin only a few minutes away by car. There's a nice restaurant and...
I would like to suggest that any two people sharing think twice about staying at the Hospederia/Albergue in La Ramallosa. Last night we paid €30 (it's €40 high season) for a tiny room that one person almost had to step out of if the other wanted to stand up. Shared bathroom. We saw nothing of...
The hard surfaces and traffic from Lisbon to Porto took their toll so we decided to hug the coastline as much as we could. We're doing about 20km each day and are often out of sync with the Albergues. Nevertheless we've found accommodation in places not listed on the sketchy maps we picked up...
We're in Rabacal now . Did wait for it to be opened but no bother. Toilets do flush! museum open and €1:10 for pilgrims. Interesting 7min video on the Roman ruins. Can't visit the ruins -they are closed.
[QUwalked out of Sacavem two days ago. There were no problems with a broken wooden bridge that I can remember but there are roadworks where you cross the main road/bridge and then backtrack down to the dirt path along the river. A road worker told us where to go to get behind the road works to...
Thanks so much! I've downloaded it to consult with the itinerary I've prepared for a 20km per day average of walking from Lisbon. We leave Sydney on Sunday and start walking on Wednesday. I hope we'd prepared.
Thanks - my orthotics are great. Not silicone, but some sort of dense foam. The exercises seem to be helping. Hubby seems to have developed a knee issue and is seeing someone today. Hope that is not bad news!
This thread is so timely and helpful! Thanks for the questionand replies. I leave Lisbon for Santiago on the 9th Sept and have been wondering how I'm going to manage. Training with my pack has brought on extreme heel pain. I already have orthotics for a different issue so don't want to change...
We are leaving Lisbon on the 9th Sept and for the first two days only doing 13 or so km per day. After that an average of 20 per day so we may meet up. My feet have the same problem. I think it is to do with training with my pack - I have to reduce the weight! Rest seems to be the only thing...
