    Where to spend first night?

Bayonne is a great and beautiful town, that is a short cab ride from Biarritz. You have to take the train from there to get to SJPP as well.

    Burgos to Ponferrada blog

Hi all, I'm hiking from Burgos to Ponferrada. This is the last section of Camino I need to complete. If anyone is interested in reading about my experiences they can follow me at www.scottstravels.blog. So far it has been a challenge, but great! Thanks and buen Camino!

How much weight did you lose?

I lost 10 lbs last year, walking from SJPP to Burgos. I walked the first 10 days in 90+ degrees Fahrenheit heat. It was brutal. I'm actually surprised I didn't lose more:)

    Pilgrim behaviour in albergues

I hate getting up super early, I'm just not a morning person. On my first Camino I walked from Ponferrada to Santiago and after Sarria I had several days where I walked into a town in mid to late afternoon, exhausted and had to continue walking around from alburgue to alburgue to pension, just...

Possible strikes upcoming at airports in Spain

Just a heads up for those traveling to Spain in the near future. https://www.euroweeklynews.com/3.0.15/news/on-euro-weekly-news/spain-news-in-english/145531-first-two-days-of-strike-action-suspended-at-spain%E2%80%99s-airports-to-allow-space-for-talks

    Snoring in albergue!

I know I sometimes snore, especially when I am tired, which is probably every night on the Camino. For my second Camino I started trying to book private rooms in Pensions and hostels, and to avoid the "Bed Race" I would book many of these options months ahead of time. It is more expensive, but...

    Interesting Read

One of my friends that was planning on doing the Camino sent this to me last year and was thinking of changing his mind and not going. All I could do is laugh, and feel sorry for the author, that poor person has probably never been happy about anything in their life. ;)

    Group camino advice

You might want to look into going with one of the many tour groups that organize groups trips. They have the contacts and experience. It would be quite a bit for one person to try and organize by themselves. Just my two cents:)

    Camino Frances in three sections

Ponferrada to Santiago - I walked for 14 days, with a day off in Sarria. That is about 12 miles a day. I was gone for 20 days. I took a couple of days off in Santiago and had to allow for transport to and from Madrid. Last year I walked SJPP to Burgos and it took me 16 days. This is about...

    Camino Frances in three sections

I did Ponferrada to Santiago in 2015 (you can add another 4 days and reach Finisterre), then SJPP to Burgos in 2016 and doing Burgos to Ponferrada this fall.

    Burst my camino bubble.

The challenges are part of the journey on the Camino. My first time on the Camino, I realized very early (on my first day) that the Camino isn't a leisurely stroll down a nicely paved and flat sidewalk:) It's not easy and the best advice I can give someone, is to listen to your body and don't...

I've shared your video with many friends and family members. They all loved it!

    Train from Biarritz to SJPP

You could spend the night in Bayonne and leave early in the am. That is what I did last year. Bayonne is a neat little town.

Starting in SJPP, Travel To SJPP & Accomodations

Last year I flew from Chicago to Madrid and landed around 8 am local time. I then took a noon flight from Madrid to Biarritz. It was a 50 min flight and super cheap, under $100, I think. From there you can take a short bus or cab ride to Bayonne and spend the night. Bayonne is a great little...

    Statistics - July 2017

Thanks for the info! It's hard to believe that the numbers for men and women are 50/50. It always seems like there are way more women than men.

    Is Roncesvalles worth staying in?

I loved staying in Roncesvalles, it was a cool little town and a very welcome stop after a tough day of hiking from Orrison. I stayed at this lovely quaint hotel called Posada de Roncesvalles. They also offer dinner and breakfast for a nominal fee which was great!!
