LIVE from the Camino Chrissy on the Camino Sanabrés

All of the Xunta albergues in Galicia I stayed in had these modern features. They're great, aren't they?

He was a character, a local Spanish guy. He joined us in the bar later.

LIVE from the Camino Chrissy on the Camino Sanabrés

I'm trying to remember which albergue I was in where the hospitalero was sleeping on the couch in the afternoon.

    The Camino will provide?

Not that anyone asked or should care... Nine years after the Battle of Edgehill, Cromwell's army defeated the Royalists at the Battle of Worcester (1651). My 8th great grandfather, Alexander Magruder was captured and sent to the colonies as a POW/indentured servant. Many children born in the...

LIVE from the Camino Anyone near Castrojeriz now

Are you thinking of the Ultrea albergue in Castrojeriz? They serve a community dinner and there's a big wooden winepress by the dinner table. He does a fun basement wine tour and tells great stories. I've stayed there twice and translated for him during the tour. He's a riot. Love that place.

    The Camino will provide?

Sounds a bit like St. James when he appeared as Matamoros on a white horse, beheading and trampling Muslims.

Puebla de Sanabria - worth the cost?

When my daughter and I were there, she chose this place for lunch because of the name. Hm. FTR, my favorite town on Camino Sanabres was Xunqueira de Ambia. I wrote a bit about it in another post.

My experience on Camino Sanabres (and accommodations)

First, this was my fourth Camino and was the most consistently beautiful walk I've done. Hilly, varied and so scenic! My daughter and I walked from Puebla de Sanabria to Santiago Apr. 14 - May 2 and were incredibly lucky to hit a period of warm, mild, dry weather. People who walked a few...

    Requejo to Lubian (Camino Sanabres)

Here is one of the trail markers on the Camino route advised by WisePilgrim (turning left, instead of right to Aciberos). See if you can spot it!

LIVE from the Camino Chrissy on the Camino Sanabrés

We were there on Apr. 14th. Here is my daughter ringing the bell at the little Terroso church. And a pic of the steps up to the bells and an interesting carving on the front of the church.

LIVE from the Camino Chrissy on the Camino Sanabrés

We were a week ahead of Chrissy and really lucked out. It was warm and dry the whole way (started in Puebla de Sanabria), until just before Santiago. It got a bit cold and a little drizzly, but other than that we had no rain at all.

LIVE from the Camino Chrissy on the Camino Sanabrés

That IS a beautiful section of the Sanabres. Great pics! I'm sorry you had so much rain. Did you get a chance to try the swing, at least? It was actually hot for us the day we walked that (about a week before you?) Somebody showed me a pic from a few weeks before we were there and there was...

Were there problems finding beds in the albergues? Everywhere we stayed was over half empty.

    The king’s breadmaker

Just be sure you say, "Hay huevos?" instead of "Tienes huevos?" Different meaning. (And salt is "sal."

    The Camino will provide?

You know what really provides? An ATM card and a bank account back home.
