We stayed here, good location for getting around on foot. But be prepared for the hills. ;)

I cycled the French Camino in July this year from SJPDP to Finisterre . The only room I booked ahead was before I left for my first night in SJPDP . Not once did I have a problem getting a bed at the first place I tried every evening and the whole trip was brilliant meeting wonderful people all...
Yes it is the N547 , I did exactly the same route in July and as you said you are riding right alongside the Camino path after Gonzar . I liked riding on the Camino path but there are times it is simply easier to ride the road parallel as it gets very busy that last 100km
I saw this in at least a dozen locations maybe more on the French Camino in July . Can only say what an idiot , and to actually bring a can of aerosol paint just to deface the Camino as you travelled . Total muppet .
Yes it is Aluminium and it has the threaded lugs for the carrier. The velcro straps did great as they were just an extra bit of security as there is a twist lock lever on the panniers but I like to enjoy myself on the off road sections and they get a good test on some sections . I met a German...
This is my Cannondale Trail , with panniers, small tail pack on carrier and removable handlebar bag , spd pedals with flats . I did the Portugese from Lisbon 2019 and just finished the French Camino from SJDPP to Finisterre 2023 . No problem fitting panniers . I did wrap a velcro strap on the...
As for Fatima .Ok the square and the churches were impressive but the town itself was like one large commercial plot with shop after shop selling religious items , so to be honest we found it to be a disappointment and no real character to it . Tomar was cool and really enjoyed Coimbra some...
I took the ALSA coach . It made one stop in Fatima for a leg stretch and grab a coffee . It's a long haul so have a book or some other means of breaking up the time for yourself .
I highly recommend a bike with front suspension as you will see a lot of cobblestone roman roads and they will knock your fillings out ;) plus you will see forest tracks and trails so the suspension is a big help . Enjoy its a great trip .
I use single sided shimano spd pedals and shimano shoes with recessed cleats , The shoes look casual and are perfect for walking around without the cleats touching floors etc. and plenty of grip , I personally do not have any issues clipping in and out , you do have to roll the pedal sometimes...
I cycled the Portuguese Camino from Lisbon with a friend . Loved it and i am now getting ready to cycle the French Camino solo . You may miss out on chatting to people if you cycle but you will meet them at cafes etc , but you still have time to yourself as you pedal on and see all the beauty...
