Does the Camino Ruin Us for Evermore?

Before Camino, my idea of travel was to pick a country or a place that I heard someone saying about it in a way that appealed to me or read somewhere or saw something that made me want to go and see/experience myself to kind of prove that I have seen and done that too and I am one of the many...

Wanna get paid to hike the Appalachian Trail?

Gosh, this is so appealing! AT is one of the to-do on my list before I hit 40 ever since I read 'A walk in the woods' when I was in high school. I have met a few that have done PCT (mostly young girls after 'Wild' came out) but never met a soul that did AT personally yet. I meant thru-hike. I...

    On this date in June...

June is a special month for me as I started my 1st and 2nd Camino in early May and slowly getting used to walking with a backpack and the Spanish/Portuguese's June weather pattern, which was quite different than I expected (was in 2017 and 2018) into the very end of June on each Camino...

    Trying to understand

I love what you said. The simplicity is the key part. Absolutely. I miss living out of a small backpack. I miss magical synchronicities, friendly faces too.

    Trying to understand

Every word is well said. I asked myself the same question many many times after my first Camino, which changed my life direction very differently. I took the whole 2 months, mostly walked alone all the way to Finisterra. Stayed a few days in a monasterio along the way. Lots of slow paced walking...

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

Banff, Spray River Loop Trail. 13Km. Took 3 hours and half. It was drizzling on and off this morning. Muddy and Icy mostly. Wished I had brought my crampons but dirt didn't bother me so it was OK. Last picture is two female deers, eating their breakfast in the woods..

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

That makes sense. Don't they even allow dogs with the leash?

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

Wow. The bear is not bothered by the dog. Looks dangerous to be that close though!

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

Glad you enjoyed here :) Yes, it is indescribable. Spring seems to have come closer here finally but no tourists. I walked Legacy trail yesterday (from Banff to Canmore about 28K, took 5 hours one way). Sorry didn't take pictures. Will do next time.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

Banff, Hoodoos trail along the Bow River. Walking distance from where I live. (We're told not to use the car unless it is emergency). It was cloudy but not windy this morning.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2020?

Banff, Vermilion Lakes. It was windy this morning but no snow. One of my favorites that are walking distance from where I live. Haven't been out of Banff for almost 6 weeks now since I lost my job due to covid-19. Just walking, hiking, running and biking sometimes.

    After Camino

I appreciate all of your interests. I am going to go another Camino next Spring to see what this is all about. I wish I can go now but it would be better to get organized a little before going on another trip that might turn out to be a little long term travel, I assume. Thank you all and wish...

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I am sorry for your loss.. There is this saying that strikes me lately; If you don't live like you think, you will end up thinking like you live. I wish you all the best.

    After Camino

I would like to thank all of you who have kindly written replies to my trivial matter. It's been now over a month since I came back from Camino. I have been trying to figure out how to respond to my feelings. I am still struggling to figure out what I should do about how I feel because my...

    After Camino

Thanks for your reply. Yeah. Staying at a monastery for 5 days in a small village, walking only about 10 km and stopped because I just felt like it and rest for the rest of the day, reading books outside or on the bed for hours, washing the sweaty clothes and drying them under the sizzling sun...

    After Camino

Yes. I have met people who have done second, third... even 50th times Camino! When I heard them saying, I immediately thought I want to come back, and I really do. but When? Juggling life between practical matters and ideal but possible ideas is hard to deal with. Thanks.

    After Camino

Thank you for your kind reply. I feel like I have lost a will to continue living a daily life. After I returned, I went to another backpacking trip to Grand Canyon but it was nothing like Camino.. It is really strange because I didn't feel like this even when I returned from travelling in...

    After Camino

Thanks for your reply. Before the Camino, I felt like I needed a change so I had a very short hair cut for the first time in my life and I was thinking of a longer trip if I felt like after the Camino. But I realized that heading to Santiago wasn't what I was there for. I was there to learn...

    After Camino

Hello all, I walked 7 weeks France Camino in May and June, 2017. I came home in July and now is August. I don't know what I have been doing since I came back. I really miss the time I walked every day through the mountains, forests, endless wheat fields, vineyards, numerous villages, highways...
