I think this is the best advice in this whole thread ;) I will only add that you can always lighten the load, if need be, by sending your pack ahead. I started my Frances on April 22 2016 and the way was absolutely beautiful, especially the Meseta. ¡Buen camino!
haha, I swiped a few from the one cafe where I saw them and was certain I would find more but, alas, none to be had. Next time I will be better prepared. My diet is bland enough and almost intolerable without my mustard. :)
hmm, I am allergic to dairy and eggs so obviously didn't experiment with the most common protein breakfasts available in Spain. I did partake of the jamon and pastries and oj. My main protein source was trail mix I prepared with nuts, dried fruit, etc. I had to prepare it 3-4 times on my 7...
It's so hard, isn't it? But I love knowing about the ignore option which I would never have known about had I not at least scanned this thread. So...there's that.
Great advice. Just throwing this out there to those of you who intend to lose weight. One alcoholic beverage a day for a year will increase your weight about 10 pounds if you do not do any extra exercise to burn off those dead calories. Just sayin'. Do whatever you like with that information.
Thank you Moderator William for your efforts to keep this discussion civil and apolitical. Although I've yet to see or read those posts that are considered political anywhere in this site (you guys are doing a good job), I have no desire to engage in politics in this forum. However, I will...
@JillGat and @Kiwi-family, thank you. It is so encouraging to read your words and realize others on the Camino thought many of the same things I did while walking. For the most part, the people with whom I walked did not want to talk about the real world while I was aching to find some insight...
I say yes, why not carry a protein bar or 2 if you think you might need them. I carried 6, gave away 4 to people who were clearly in need of food. When those were gone, I bought dried fruit and nuts and created a zip lock bag of trail mix. There were days when that was breakfast (allergic to...
How did you like the Altus rainjacket? I bought one and got set all the way through every time I wore it on the Primitivo. Grrr. I hope your experience was better.
PREMARIN???? . Menopausal hormones help a lot of things but probably not helpful in the battle of the bedbugs. I'm certain you mean permethrin but this was too hilarious not to respond to. Still laughing
Alex, I remember feeling absolutely clueless when I got to Pamplona. I had booked a bed at a hostal for 1 nite. The receptionist had to come look for me later to ask me if I wanted a stamp. I thought she meant postage stamp. If course she meant I should get out my credentials so she could stamp...
Just a little tangent here...so everyone seems to take their shower upon checking into an albergue...how long is that wait??? Do you take a number or stand in line or what exactly to get into the shower?
I've just done a bit more reading and it is CARBAMATE, not carbonate which is used as treatment. Carbamates are very similar to organophosphates and have a nearly identical side effect profile. So, again, I would not recommend using something like that. I think that on the Camino, prevention...
Great idea about going to a lavanderia to use the dryer although some will insist on sending your clothes to a special cleaning facility if they know what you're doing.
I'm not familiar with using carbonates to treat bedbugs but certainly organophosphates are VERY toxic and definitely NOT a...
