I found the first 4 days to be quite flat, and busy traffic in some areas. Once I got to Tomar it was more typical topography (not so flat). I found it well marked with good accommodations. After Santarem I hit the rain, which stayed til Santiago! I found a moderate amount of other pilgrims...
Hello, I have done porto to Santiago in September and found the weather to be very nice for walking. If you like the ocean scenery I recommend doing porto to Vigo. Doable in 7 days with excellent transportation at both places.

All the routes of the Portuguese meet at Redondola, and from there I would book ahead. Also a lot of people start at Tui, or Redondola to get at least 100 kms and obtain a compesela, which makes it busier. Prior to that I don't think it would be necessary to book.

I found the metro on porto to be very easy to use snf takes you everywhere you want. There is a metro stop right outside the airport. You can take ot to within a couple hundred meters of thr cathedral. You can take it to Matosinhos, and then back past the airport to Vila de Conde! Not sure where...
No problem until Ponteverde , then the bed rush was on. Quite a few people on the Portuguese Camino from Tui or Vigo. Nice to meet lots more, but beds are getting scarce.
