What a hoot.
I am not a "hoopy frood" from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galacy (sp).
Frood is my family name; there are not many of us around the world.

Good on you Mus.
Your on line "minders" will be happy to give you advice. I see you have been part of the Forum for a while so you know the routine.
A gentle reminder... Less is more... less on your back is more lightness on your feet. That will make a big different.
All the best

Andrew:
Have a good walk and listen to advice about the weather and conditions, particularly on your first day.
I have only walked in the fall, first in Spain then most recently in France, so really cannot comment on the circumstances you will be facing.
Above all, you are OK, you will be...
Hi Flemsy:
I concur and defer to Gitti - she has a a very good perspective on the walk. In France, look for about 28 - 35 euros for a demi-pension (bed, supper and breakfast) plus stuff or lunch, coffee, snacks, etc.
WRT to les stage and the distances, there are a number of traditional places...
Welcome Flemsly to the Forum and Bueno Camino.
I walked this September from Le Puy to St Jean Pied de Port so have a sense of some of the landscape you will be walking.
The plan you have outlined is a tremendous gift to yourself. I hope you will be able to slow down, integrate your varied...
David:
My early posts noted that I had just got a new "very" nice bike. In fact, I have not been on many rides but have plans for the spring to do some distance rides - Niagara to Montreal (a very urban ride) and perhaps crossing Maryland. This is a return to something I have done in the past...
J:
You are interesting.
Recently, I have been intrigued by Karen Armstrong's work to engage in a dialogue on compassion. Take a look at the results, expressed in the Compassion Charter - google it. In a way, this may well be a point of reflection on my upcoming walk.
You might also be...
Dear J and Murf:
I will not see on your journey since I, (a fellow Canuk) will be starting the stroll a bit later in Le Puy - "Un camino partial en francais"
I am not, like you part of a formal religion and in fact my previous walk, about ten years ago turned me off formal connections with...

Welcome and hope you have a good walk.
Really don"t know your circumstances but do hope that you can diversify your dietary options, at least during your walk. Enjoy.

Ladies:
You rock big time. I take from your intro that you are part of the movement of grandmothers who who are connecting via the Stephen Lewis Foundation with Grandmothers in Africa who are the care givers of the of parents with AIDS/HIV.
I encourage others who are looking at these posts to...
Hi western Canuks (and the honorary Belgian Canuk):
Welcome to the Forum.
Hope you enjoy your stroll. You are going through a cool section. Did it 10 years ago>
I, a poor soul from Lakefield, Ontario will be leaving starting to walk from Le Puy in France in early September and may perhaps...
Be realistic. Get to SJPDP, absorb the town and its role in the pilgrim tradition. Spend the night then take off. It is a 30K something trek to Roncesvalles and much of it is uphill. Take the time time breath. It is beautiful. Enjoy.
BTW, Gitti is right if you really want to move thru...
I am leaving in September as well from but from Le Puy en france so will no likely connect. Nevertheless, enjoy the walk wherever you start. It will certainly be a defining experience for you.

Hello Mate:
When I first walked 10 years ago, I became a member of the Confraterity of St James in London and used a UK credenza. A bit odd since I am a Canadian.
Today, I received my credenza from the Canadian Group ... the Canadian Company of Pilgrims so now, on my next walk, I will be...
Hi folks:
This discussion has certainly gone off in different directions.
I will be migrating to the Le Puy group where I hope to draw on the collective wisdom regarding this route and some of the practicalities associated with it.
A closing thought on how to lighten the load, based on my...
Hello Gitti and Lynne (a fellow Canuk).
I see the Commonwealth is alive and well - even though the representation is "la creme de la creme"..... to date, it represents a rather narrow representation.
Thanks for your advice and expressions of support.
I got a new bike today and had to do...
Salut mes amis:
I have just joined this forum and am renewing my interest in the Camino after a 10 year hiatus. I walked about 400 km (started in SJPP, missed some sections in the middle due to feet and time, then walked the last 250 K or so at the end) in 2001 during my 50th year and am now...
