Hola Katy Why not get the train from Santiago to Pontevedra and walk back. There are very regular trains. It will take three days to walk back to Santiago. Pontevedra - Caldas de Reis - Padrón - Santiago. Then when you reach Santiago simply get the train back again to join your friend...- JohnnieWalker

When does the botafumerio swing?
And there is no connection whatsoever between walking the Camino and getting a compostela and receiving an "indulgence for the remission of sins" or time off in purgatory - Even if one believes in these concepts :)- JohnnieWalker

When does the botafumerio swing?
It swings lots of times but the times are not announced. The only guaranteed time is a Friday evening - apart from main feast days when it is used at the beginning of the Mass.- JohnnieWalker

Anyone else starting mid April?
Yes - they only take them if parcelled up or in one of the boxes they sell. Also be careful as they Post Office in Santiago will only keep the package for 15 days. It might be best to post it to Ivar.- JohnnieWalker
