Today is the first day of the rest of my life!

Keep the journal in detail even though your mind will probably do it for you. You'll find there are too many "new" things to remember. Don't blog. It takes you "off the Camino". Buen Camino

    September 2014 Peregrinos

I'd say track shoes and a day-pack in good weather might do it. But you'd shoot yourself for not taking time to enjoy the views!

Hi. I am from South Africa. I would like to walk the Camino in September.

Dooze, While preparation, planning, and fitness are encouraged by all of us and will readily be found here willingly, it's my experience that the less you "prepare" for the Camino in the realm of accommodations, etc., the more "open" you may make yourself to the Camino experience. Those who use...

Planning to go in two years... But have some physical limitations.

Be careful you don't make it too formidable. Given enough time, not carrying a pack, and your choice of lodgings I truly believe there are very few, percentage-wise, who can't make it.

You will know long before two years from now whether your body agrees with your mind.

Embarking from Astorga in 3 Days

Tim, 1. The minute you step on the Camino the word "cheat" doesn't exist UNLESS that's what YOU intend to do! 2. If the 15# includes water you're in like Flynn! 3. If you've walked 13 miles in ONE day, your body will understand what it's in for. God will take care of the rest. 4. You and...

The "Maine" part is simple. I live in Maine! The "indy" part comes from way back and the Indiana Jones movie, "Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom". The part where he steps out into nothingness and a bridge appears for him to get to the other side. I saw that as Hollywood's best representation...

    Married, spouse can't commit time...help!

I think it's been said in different ways above. Walking the Camino with your wife would be completely different from walking it without her. And your purposes would also be different. My wife joined me for the last 120k and I told people afterward I was lucky in that I got to walk two Caminos...

Just bought my tickets to Paris

Just hope there isn't a local train strike when you get to Pau. That happened to me and it cost me 120 for a taxi to SJPP! If you plan early enough Caroline at www.expressbourricot.com might pick you up.

    Sarria to Santiago

Falcon, My wife is joining me in Sarria and will probably, because of her back, have Xacotrans take care of "slackpacking"! Does that require having a reservation at the albergue we intend to reach each day? Indyinmaine

    Class of 2013

I know I'll be in the Class of 2013, the only question is whether I'll graduate! My daughter and I will start on September 12 and hopefully arrive in Santiago on the 24th of October. At 80+ it won't be a Sunday stroll, but I've been looking forward to it since 1975! It's time! Indyinmaine
