I walked the Camino Frances in may in sandels the whole way no problems, not a single blister.
So your feet get wet, so what, it keeps them cool.
I also walked the 2560 ml Pacific Crest Trail in America in sandels, I wouldn't wear anything else
I guess that's how one tree I passed got adorned with various articles of clothing and made into some kind of shrine. Go back in a few years time and you'll probably see your underwear along with everyone else's.
I too use poles, they've saved my bacon several times when I've caught my foot on a tree root or slippery section through mud. I either use them normally (left pole forward with right foot forward) or if my knee starts complaining after 20 mls, I revert to putting left pole forward with left...

Loose 1 jumper, 2 pants, 1 shirt, pjs, 1 pr socks, 2 pr undies, thong, handbag, tourist top and swop water bottle for 500ml, find lightweigh day sac 25ltrs.
Lets face it you're going through towns and villages nearly every day so can pick up things along the way.
