Shakedown request: February on the Camino Frances, 35 pounds current weight

Hello everyone, my cousin is planning to do the Camino de Santiago in February, starting February 1 on the Camino Frances. Could you all please help me with a shakedown? It's his first time Most lists I've found are for summer Caminos, so there's a bunch of extra stuff for winter that I had to...

1st Time over Xmas week +2 Irish teen boys

how is everyone? I'd love to bring my sons (level 15, level 17) to the Camino over Christmas week.. 22 - 28 Dec if possible. Is it too idealistic / how realistic is it to bring a sleepingbag and a few socks, underwear, and do the Finestere route ? I know it's only a week, but i thought if our...

    Christmas gift help

My husband took an ultralight Gossamer Gear pack on the last Camino and it didn't work for him. He wanted more structure (he packed too heavy but that's another story). I'm an Osprey fan so thinking of getting him a 38-44 L men's Osprey pack. But the more I look, then more I can't decide and we...

Feedback on packing would be (really) appreciated.

I'm hiking The Ingles beginning 10/9. Little rain currently forecast. Not sure if I need a poncho and raincoat. I'd prefer to take the raincoat regardless for warmth on chillier evenings, just not sure if a poncho is needed if only light rain is forecast. No cotton here, all merino wool or...

Hi there! Very long story short, I'm starting my Camino in less than a week (with essentially zero prep- trust me, I know!!!) and despite being my 3rd Camino have NO IDEA what to pack for October /November on the Frances. I expect to take 35-40 days to veto Santiago and Muxia, leaving on Oct...

Osprey Farpoint 40L Travel Pack Comfort Level

I'm planning my next camino and am wanting to have my pack as airline carry-on. I've read wonderful reviews about the Farpoint 40 but am concerned about the comfort level while walking the Camino, day after day. I would appreciate hearing about peoples experiences with wearing the pack on the...

What shall I remove from my pack.... 🤔

Hey all! I'm waling the Frances in a few weeks, and currently I have an 8kg pack and trying to trim that down. I'm only 163cm tall (but currently weight 80kg because I need to lose about 15kg - hence the Camino 😅) Love some feedback on my thoughts below: Thinking to remove: Insect repellant -...

    Walking with lumbar pack only

Has anyone walked with a lumbar (waist) pack only? If so, what pack did you use and would you recommend it? I walked the Frances in 2018 with a 6kg backpack but I now have an issue with my shoulder so I'm considering using a lumbar pack next year if I can tweak (reduce) my gear a bit.

    Please review my packing List

Greetings Peregrinos! We start the Camino Frances Aug 29 out of SJPDP. I do have an oversize 55L backpack I got on sale that weighs less than the Gregory 38L I almost considered. Important features- only pack I can find that has ample hip belt for my small frame (I'm 4'11"), plus I love...

28L pack on the Camino Frances this October

Dear all, I'm doing my 1st Camino this October & I'm nervous about whether I made the right choice in buying a 28L Osprey backpack. I had initially purchased a 30L Macpac bag, but it was somehow abit too flimsy and this new pack feels better. I just don't know if I'll be able to pack as much as...

Open to criticism on my pack

Okay! Here's my pack list for my inaugural Camino. Starting del Norte 30th Aug and plan to finish Oct 1. Temps look like very warm days and comfortable nights (mid 50s F). I'm in private rooms the whole way, including a few "nice" hotels where I can treat myself to shampoo and lotion...

Things I'd bring, who cares about the weight

So I like to walk the Camino. I first walked with my mom, then my sister, solo so many times. Here is a list of things I'd bring despite the added weight: 1) playing cards. Don't worry about chips, just use skittles. And be weary about buying decks in Spain, I mean, they are different...

Osprey Tempest- what am I doing wrong?

I recently purchased an Osprey Tempest which has great back ventilation. However, no matter how I try to adjust it, the pads at the sides of the waist are irritating on my hip bones. It’s hard to imagine wearing it for long without a lot of rubbing and/ or blisters. Any suggestions?

Gregory Zulu 40L as carry on.

I was planning to use my Gregory Zulu 40L pack for my September Norte/Primitivo trip. It is too big for carrying on. Given the ongoing airline issues with lost luggage, I've decided to acquire a pack that I can carry on. I've Googled and searched on this forum and the options are overwhelming. I...
