Hello! I have a free week in september and i was wondering how safe it is for me to walk the first stage of the camino frances alone? I'm 21. Is it very busy in september? My parents are a little concerned for me.
I recently did some of the camino portuges with my cousin and i loved it!
Thanks!
Bosch offers an interesting app to Germans, that could serve as a basis for a pilgrims' app: Vivatar. It puts a hiker into touch with nearby fellow hikers and can alert them if something is not right. See the article in Computerwoche...
A woman was walking alone in this area a few days ago, when she was grabbed by a man who held her tightly while he attempted to satisfy himself sexually. She got away, ran and was not hurt physically. The police are aware of the incident. Women, particularly those walking alone, please beware...
Hello, everyone. I'm planning to walk the Via de la Plata from Sevilla to Santiago next March and April. I will be walking alone for most of it and my husband plans to join me for the last two weeks.
I've read a few reports and posts in these forums about robberies happening in the first stage...
Just a heads up everyone, especially for female pilgrims:
If you are planning to visit Eunate in the next few days, be alert on the road that descends from Muruzábal to Eunate. An American woman who had made the detour this morning reported the presence of a flasher on the road.
I have...
Further to recent discussion on another thread, I was wondering if there were any albergues on any of the caminos covered by this forum which still lock people in at night, i.e. they cannot open the main door from the inside in the event of an emergency?
Please only give information on this...
Sorry this is a belated report, but the forum won't let me log in on my Android phone, it keeps asking me to approve cookies again and again.
18th April around noon just after the Embalsa de Proserpina (Mérida), where the camino leaves the asphalt road on the left, and there is water erosion to...
There is continuing concern about incidents affecting female pilgrims. We reiterate the advice given by a number of pilgrim associations and the Spanish authorities:
Before you set out, programme the emergency number 112 into your telephone.
Consider downloading this App issued by the Spanish...
Hi everyone!
I'm a 22 year old female walking the Camino Frances by myself in 3 weeks.
I've been so excited to do it. But I've just seen a news article regarding a woman who was murdered on the Camino. I've tried to ignore it. But of course my brain is incapable of that and so ive spent the last...
Hello dear fellow pilgrims,
I am looking at my options to walk the Camino this year for about 10 days (starting May 16) I found very good flights to Zaragoza and I was wondering if anyone can give me advice: Start walking in Zaragosa or take the bus/train to Pamplona and start there. I will be...
Hello,
I'm a university student from the States starting the Camino Frances alone this summer. As a young woman, many people have discouraged me to do this... To those who have walked the Camino: What are your opinions on walking it alone? Do you have any tips? What have you observed about...
Hello to all.........
I have a question re safety............This may be a fairly dumb question, but perhaps something to consider even so.............
From the guide books, the VDLP does seem to include some fairly empty, rural sections.....How concerned need one be about walking through such...
Hi there,

I am planning to walk this year on Camino Frances. I've read some post from past years that is it pretty safe for women to walk alone, but I just wanted to see if any woman from this forum had a recent experience and how I felt. I don't know...I just maybe need some reinforcements that all is...
What are your top 3 safety tips, for a person (female) traveling CF solo?

What else?

Dear. All
As the title I wrote, I read a post that a Korean woman ran into a robber on last Friday when she walked to Los Arcos from Estella.
There was only 10 Euro in her pants pocket so she gave it to him but he didn't let her go and he forced her to push into a cave but she pretended not to...
Hi Guys,
I am planning my winter camino.. I leave in less than a month, and up until this point I was feeling very confident in going alone.. However as the date approaches quickly, as friends and family worry more, I have been looking closer into the safety of the Camino. There isn't too much...
I have walked three caminos, now I am thinking walking Via de la Plata starting mid march. For all of you that have walked it....will it be a good time of the year to start?? Also is it a very solitary Camino?? Will I meet other Piligrims along the way?? I have always walked alone and I am a...
This morning my walking poles were stolen from the room I shared with 3 men early 20s, two were bearded, non-english speaking, in albergue Santo Domingo in Tui. Two days earlier in the Ponte De Lima albergue a lady had a recharge stolen. Similar characters seem to have been involved.
Can...
