What are the preferences for an all around use soap.. I’m taking body wash, hair soap and one that’s good to wash out those well used clothes along the Camino.
We usually “Camp soap” while camping , it’s a liquid biodegradable soap. Just wondering if there’s any suggestions of anything better.
While walking around Lisbon today I saw these fantastic 'pilgrim notebooks' in a shop window and had to buy them!
The quote on the front reads: “iniciar um novo caminho assusta mas depois de cada passo percebemos o quanto era perigoso permanecer parado”
In my translation: “starting a new...
Good morning (from Australia-:))
I’m wondering what others pack in the way of toiletries when considering weight?)
Planning on heading off from SJPP late April … first time and looking forward to the walk.
Thanks
Hey camino friends!
Ear plugs... simple yet I have no idea where to start.
I have sensitive ears and find ear plugs incredibly uncomfortable and borderline painful. Am I doing something wrong, or are there different plugs for different needs? Any advice or experience could be helpful.
Hi fellow pilgrims! Does anyone out there use a fanny pack/bumbag when walking the Camino? (well, I know some of you do, I've seen them out there!) I'm looking to add one to my Camino setup, and it seems like it could be super convenient to stash the things I might need throughout the day...
American Science and Surplus is one of my favorite sources for all sorts of travel supplies - tiny bottles, assorted storage bags, miscellaneous containers and all sorts of things you didn't know you needed!
In your experience which one would be more useful in the camino? Should bring a carabiner or S hook?
I am not even sure lol what i will need this for, but i hear here in the forum that is good to have it to hang stuff.
What absolute sundries do you need? Last time I walked from Astorga to SdC I had sunscreen, a bar of Dove soap, tooth paste. I hope to walk again next year. What am I missing ?
OK, I have too much time on my hands...obviously
I'm going over and over my packing list, looking to improve it by:
Taking items out.
Swapping in lighter items.
Making sure items are at least dual purpose.
And inevitably, all this research uncovers items I never dreamed of taking...
I have a number of items that I only use while on the Camino. My little microfiber towel which is a bit to small to completely dry my 6 foot 4 inch frame, a buff that has been with me the 3 times I’ve walked, Dr. Bronner’s lavender scented bar soap. I purchased a bar of Dr. Bronner’s a few...
[MODERATOR'S NOTE: These first two posts have been moved from another thread, as the topic seems worth a thread of its own.]
Edit (to explain the issue now that this has been used to create a new thread)
Older walkers might have noticed that when they are using bi-focal, multi-focal or...
Everyone needs earplugs on the Camino (and for us Aussies to use on the plane getting over there). There are many types on the market, but I've yet to find some that are really effective. Advice needed!
With the shorter days of Fall while walking Camino Ingles in late October, I wanted to make sure that Jill and I were as visible as we can be for motor vehicle and bicycle traffic. Aside from other wearables, I wanted a wearable warning light that was bright and had the capability to be set to...
Packing my first first aid kit, I'm having a hard time deciding what's essential. The pre-made kits you can buy at field-and-stream type stores seem to be way too much stuff.
What do you like to keep in your pack for first aid on the camino? If it would vary based on which route you're taking...
...another item to consider because of it's multi-use is a reusable foldable bag...1) The grocery stores in Spain do not provide bags ( you can buy them ) but they prefer you honor the earth and bring your own 2) it serves as my under the seat carry on when flying with the bits I don't put in...
Howdy folks!
I just wanted to run through my list of 12 items that I will be packing into a small First Aid Kit which I will be taking with me on the Camino Frances in September 2018. I understand that there are many pharmacies along the way and that keeping things light is a priority, but I...
Does anyone have a recommendation on a soap that will work for body/hair/clothes? I'm guessing that any soap will "work" but I'm looking for what works "best" and is easy to carry. What do pilgrims use?
