Camino Francis (April 2015)
17 April 2015 - Astorga to El Acebo - 38 - 40 kms (I Think)

All I can say -- is what a day!! -- I loved this part of the Camino -- finally got out of the flat routes along the main roads and back into Mountain Country -- the weather was perfect -- the scenery breath taking -- I doubt I have the words to fully describe today's adventure.

Started out a bit late -- 0900 -- ok -- I was lazy -- but had a good breakfast -- walked through Astorga -- WOW -- neat town -- so hoofing a long and at some point a young, red headed lass shows up on the trail and hands out a leaflet for a place to get some chow -- all organic, whatever that means -- so hoofed it into town, saw some other Pilgrims and decided, great spot to get some tea -- ends up -- Organic Place -- not sure what I had to eat -- but my fear was it was completely Vegetarian -- so instead of inducing a rejection -- I choose to ignore a potential fact -- it tasted good -- so had to have had some meat products in it (thats my story and I am sticking to it : ) ).

One of the really neat things I have seen in the last couple of days is a van load of Special Needs Young Adults who are working their way along the El Camino -- it is just unbelievably cool - happy, friendly faces -- and what to me is really Camino Magic -- very heart warming to say the least -- words inadequate -- tears and happy thoughts appropriate.

Finally arrived at the village of El Acebo -- other than the down hill route (always rough on the knees) a really cool town -- stopped at the first place I saw and asked all the important questions:

Got Wifi?
Hot Water?
Blankets?
Beer?
Food? (Optional Question)

Unfortunately for this first location - wifi was jacked up so moved on down the main street -- Next Albergue (Left side of the street -- Bar Albergue) I went into -- heaven -- got the basic 8 euro room -- the ladies that ran the place were very cool and took good care of me - first thing they did was pour me a beer and than said whenever I was ready to order dinner to let them know (I did not arrive until 2030 hours) -- Yep -- cool place even with having to sleep with 6 or 8 strangers -- so lets see -- room, hot shower, flushing toilet (always a plus), a meal and two beers -- 18 Euros --

Today Was A Great Day In So Many Ways -- Physically, Emotionally, and Spiritually
