Torrential rain yesterday in sjpp. Today is pretty damn perfect hiking weather. Not too hot. Overcast with sunny spells.

I've just arrived at Roncesvalles.

I am walking like a Mondoshewan as in the movie 5th Element.

My biggest regret is not buying blister prevention patches that were on the rack next to the Compeed I'd bought.

Never mind. The doctor doesn't think my foot needs to be amputated - yet...

On this day, 2litres of water was sufficient.

I got a very strange phone call last night around 8pm from a rather aggresive woman "YOU SLEEP IN MY HOUSE TONIGHT, YES?"

I thought "i can't remember any recent drunken liaisons with loose women".

Ah, the penny drops. "No, i sent you a cancellation email over a week ago". Ok, that seems to do the trick and satisfied, she hangs up. No doubt my reservation somewhere in sjpp (cancelled) will now go to someone else.

What was temperature climbing over Pyrenees?

A selection of Camino Jewellery
Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
About 17c early in sjpp and then steadily rising to 20c when overcast, and up to 25c when sunny, after 8km and until just before spanish border. Remained around 22c thereafter. One 5 minute moderate rain shower midway.
That’s darn near perfect alright!

It’s definitely warming up in Barcelona but at least the nights are cool. Still waaaaay better than early August though. That was nasty.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
@Crosbie I am hoping post more of your daily observations and walks. I enjoyed your writings concerning the Templars.
Jolly good. Others seemed to indicate that no-one enjoyed my Templar pontifications. :-} I took the peremptory closure of the thread as an indication that any continuance on my part was unwelcome.

As for other observations, I think I'd try the start in a more leisurely fashion next time, e.g. SJPP->Orisson->Roncesvaux->Zubiri->Akaretta->Pamplona. It's supposedly the prettiest section - albeit one of the more arduous.

Aca y Aller in Urdaniz was definitely a very nice stopover.

I've never walked from SJPP. Both my Caminos Frances were from Roncesvalles. If I were to cross the Pyrenees on a future Camino Frances, I would certainly stop at Orisson or Borda, unless I had already walked from Le Puy, Vezelay, Paris or some such to get to SJPP and thus was well seasoned. Last time, I also took it easy between Zubiri and Puenta la Reina stopping at Trinidad de Arres and Zariquiegui for three days of 15 km each, with a detour to Eunate. It was during San Fermin so there weren't a lot of beds in Pamplona.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc

I enjoy your Templar tales, too.

Although you exhausted the participants, you still had a large audience.

Buen camino.

I was in SJPdP around 10 days ago and it was crowded. No beds left for those who didi't book ahead.
What was it like now?
