Camino Portugues
Hi folks, planning to do Camino Portugues from Lisbon to Santiago from mid October to end November.
I really don't want to sleep in Alberques or any dorm with other people in same room. Maybe only when there is no other possibility. Is that doable on this route, e.g. are there enough hotels, guesthouses, B&B's that do over private rooms?

Thanks!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Hi and welcome on this forum.

Yes, your plan is completely doable.

This website is very up to date when it comes to available lodgings.
It lists albergues, but also hotels, hostales, pensions, quintas , casas rurales etc...

Happy preparations.

Hello benm

I walked the Portuguese from Lisbon to SdC in 2018 and stayed in private rooms all the way. No problem whatsoever aside from some days which were longer than I would have liked. There are some really lovely quintas, spa hotels, a couple of Paradores as well as some quirky places. I thought the accommodation on this route was generally excellent and amazing value. Enjoy!

I will just repeat the comments above. I walked in 2017 from Porto and that part of the route had plenty of private accommodation in lovely B&Bs and small hotels. Being in 2 people, it was value for money to share a private room, which we did most nights.

My favourite was Casa da Capela, after Rubiães. And I should have budgeted a bit better to be able to try some of the Paradores in this route, like the one in Tui.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
We are doing this in August (after already doing the 1st week out of Lisbon in June - school holiday limits!). Everything is reserved on Booking.com, coastal route from Porto. There are three exceptions were we have booked private rooms by email (to make stage distances sensible); these are at Rabacal, Mealhdra and Albergaria-a-Nova. There was one place we wanted but there was no availability on the date required. They are nearly all free cancellation which makes booking early easy (more important for the summer I guess).
