Thanks Miguel if the metro goes straight to Villa de Conde it could be a good option. I will try to find some information. We do not need to go into Porto as we will be staying there on our return journey. Hope the coastal route is ok as the three of us travelling have a joint age of 205 we have done 2 previous Caminos , it gets harder each time, but we are looking forward to the trip.
My apologies, I gave you a bit of a bum steer. Airport is on a metro spur so you do have to take the metro back two stops to Verdes and then change for direct train to Vila do Conde. See here
Thanks Miguel and Johnnie. Looks like the most difficult part is finding somewhere to stay on the Portuguese part of the coastal walk. We might have to resort to taking a tent but obviously would like to avoid the weight. We are doing research into accommodation if anyone has any ideas these would be gratefully received
