I walked part of the Frances from Leon to Santiago in August and have just finished the Norte. I was struck by the contrast when returning to the Frances for the last gasp from Arzua. On the Norte we drank too much wine and had to be chased out of Albergues in broad daylight. On the Frances I was frequently woken by other peoples´ alarm clocks as early as 5.30 a.m. at a time when it was only light around 8 a.m.

I am tempted to rant, but being in a (temporary) state of Grace, I won´t.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
I guess I got into a good group of people then. On the latter part of my camino, no one seemed to think it was wise to wander out in the dark, so since the sun didn´t come out until 8 or 8:15, we didn´t start getting up until 7:30ish. There was always one or 2 exceptions, though, but since there was no rush to get beds, most didn´t feel the urge to get up early & race to the next stop.
