Albergue Izar, Viana

Hi all! Not sure if I've put this is the right category or not, so Moderators, please feel free to move it. Can anyone tell me if they know if Albergue Izar in Viana is up and running after Covid? I'm trying to book 1st May. Their website, plus Gronze both say they open March 1st, so I would've thought they'd be taking enquiries by now. Buen Camino app says April 1st, so conflicting information. I've emailed them 4 weeks ago, then again a week later using their website, but nothing back yet. Can any body help me?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Try sending them a message via WhatsApp at this number: +34 660 071 349

There are reviews from Gronze from last year, so I don't see why they wouldn't be open this year.

Thanks Trecile 🙏, I'll give that a go.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I passed that way last summer and they were open.

Thank you so much for your reply Gerald. After having emailed them twice, I took Trecile's advice and Whatsapp'd them last week. Still no reply though 😞. I'll wait till April 1st, and if still no response, I'll try booking at one of the Viana hotels 🤷‍♀️. Thanks again 😊.

Sweething,
It might be best to now book a hotel for May 1 that can be cancelled if the albergue responds. May 1 is a public holiday in Spain and many people will be travelling. Read this earlier post for more on the holiday.

Good luck with your plans and Buen camino!

A guide to speaking Spanish on the Camino - enrich your pilgrim experience.
This part of the Camino was like a ghost town last summer so I don't think you'll have any trouble with accommodation. Viana has two other albergues, the parish and the municipal. https://caminoguide.net/guide/viana

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.
