Hi guys,

Looks like Alsa.es is no longer doing the route from Pamplona to SJPDP, at least on the website there is no option to book that trip.

Do you know if this is only temporary?

Are there any other alternatives (instead of taxi) to go from Pamplona to SJPDP?

Thanks!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi, Diego,
The Alsa service is seasonal. It runs, I believe, during Semana Santa (if that falls really early), and then again picks up in spring. It used to begin in May, but recently has been starting earlier and earlier to reflect the increases in pilgrims. I believe that last year it started in mid March and ran through the month of September. When do you need the service? Buen camino, Laurie

Thanks Laurie!

I was just looking into that because people are asking that question on my Blog.

Do you think the route will re-apear on the website after they resume the service?

In case somebody want's to go when they are not operating, are they any options?

Thanks so much!

ALSA (and Conda, the actual service provider) don't usually update the schedule more than a month in advance.

The only other public transport option is to travel via Bayonne. SNCF TER operates buses and trains from Bayonne 4 or 5 times per day all year.

If you're coming from Madrid (or Barcelona), take the train to Irun/Hendaye change of gauge station or the bus to San Sebastian. There are lots of border crossing options to Bayonne involving bus and train connections.

Another possibility is to use the transport service offered by Corazon Puro. See http://www.corazonpuro.es/Enghome.html for further info. They will meet you in Pamplona, feed and host you overnight and transport you to Roncesvalles or Saint Jean Pied de Port next morning after breakfast. What more does one need?

To my knowledge there has never been a bus between Pamplona and SJPP. Pilgrims usually take the bus from Pamplona to Roncesvalles and then taxi to SJPP. The bus from Pamplona is run by Autocars Artieda and it seems from their timetable that this bus is still running - though my Spanish is not good and there could be a winter break. Someone might be able to translate.

I've taken the 1400 bus from Pamplona to SJPDP (Jun 2013) and got there around 1600. It does exist on a seasonal basis.

Its been running since at least 2013 during summer. This last year (2014) it started in March at Easter and terminated in early December. There were 3 daily July and August. Conda operates the route. The Schedule is shown on ALSA website . Use the international tab. (though you won't find anything now)

Here is article on CONDA website.

The regular bus service from Pamplona to Saint Jean Pied de Port is begining again on 1 March 2015. You can get more informtion in www.conda.es

Before this date the only option is a taxi. In www.taxiperegrino.com you can book a service, shared with other pilgrims.

Is this crazy or it might not even be possible. But can you taxi from Madrid airport to SJDP ?

Depends on your budget, anything is possible if you are willing to pay for it.
