When I was walking into Santiago the other day, I encountered some construction disruptions near the final approach. The intersection with the big roundabout at the N550 where pilgrims cross onto Rúa dos Concheiros was pretty well torn up, and then Conceiros itself was blocked. After crossing the N550, pilgrims were immediately prompted to turn right up Rúa do Home Santo, which then curved left and became Angustia, then forked left onto Rúa do Medio.

Obviously, any time a walk is disrupted by construction, it's at least a little annoying. And when the familiar, comfortable, urgent final approach to the Praza do Obradoiro is interrupted, it can be quite frustrating! However, I climbed up Home Santo, turned the corner, and was immediately rewarded with this view:

Unlike San Pedro, where you see little of the cathedral and often have cars squeezing by on a congested road, this quiet street had no traffic and the cathedral spires were on full display throughout. It was actually quite invigorating!

At the end of Rúa do Medio, you pass through an old gate into the Praza Porta Camiño, the little plaza on the right immediately before crossing into the old town. Honestly, I think I might keep walking this way in moving forward.
