Has anyone been to Arbo in Galicia? We had a really nice wine from a wine maker from there and thought it might be nice to go there after we get to Santiago de Compostela. I really love the wines from Galicia :D

Me too, especially the whites. The Spanish group who took me under their wing took me to dinner one night in Santiago and we had a couple of them. For some reason white vino hits me harder than red, and I actually fell down when leaving the table. But perhaps that was also a partial reaction to having the best seafood meal of my life...

VT, most people think of Albariño when they think of the whites from Galicia, at least here in the States. I really love them too. But there is another grape variety from Galicia, the Valdeorras DO in the eastern part of Galicia, that gets little notice in the States called Godello that is equally as good if not better. It can be found in the States with a little looking around. This wine in my opinion is very aromatic and drinks like a good white burgundy and is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
My favourite godello is Luna Beberido, which is harvested from grapes grown just east of Villafranca de Bierzo-- I recall splitting a bottle with some British Columbian pilgrims at a restaurant in Villafranca. Pilgrims will likely recall the vines to their left as they pass by the Nogueira sculpture garden on the outskirts. Apparently Bodegas Astria’s Pilgrimage label is grown from grapes along the Camino near Cacabelos.
