hi,
I want to walk a part of the coastal route from october 10 this year.
can you reccomend a part of the route for one week only?
or maybe its better to start from lisbon?
last question- do you think the weather would be fine or its too late? can I find place to sleep on the way?

thanks a lot in advance,

Aya

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Olá Aya. My wife and I started the caminho Português da Costa in Viana de Castelo and walked north along the coast by crossing the Miño river at Caminha to a Guarda.
A week walking depending on your pace could be ending at Baiona or Vigo.
Nice places to stay and a beautiful walk.
I also walked from Lisbon but only for a week I should advise you to start north of Porto
A great alternative is walk from Pontevedra to Santiago by the ruta Variante Espiritual. A great walk ,fairly unknown to the average Santiago pilgrim. Advantage is that you can obtain a Compostela certificate at the end.
See my vids.
Bom caminho

Thanks a lot Albertinho,
What do you think is better from the two options you mentioned?
do you think the weather up north will fit in the middle of October?

Bon Caminho!

Variante Espiritual ?
As you have seen there is a boattour included. The only maritime camino in the world. In october storms you'll maybe get a bit seasick :). It is a great adventure by the way. We loved it.

The coastal from Viana also hits the sea so it can be stormy too .
I never walked in october and the weather is unpredictable.
If you are an exerienced walker I should go for the Variante Spiritual I should say

Another option is to start in Vigo, maybe stay a night in Baiona ?
Day 2 Vigo to Redondela
Day 3 Redondela to Pontevedra
Day 4 Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis
Day 5 Caldas de Reis to Padron
Day 6 Padron to Santiago de Compostela
There are plenty of cheap places to stay mix of albergues etc As Albertinho says the weather can be wet at times, but the route passes through lots of beautiful woodland.

Albertinho.
Thank you for your video ( and its music!).
I think that the name of the hotel in Oia "A Raiña" (The Queen) is dedicated in honour to Queen Isabel de Portugal who in 1325 and in 1335 did the Caminho. Same as the street in Santiago also called A Raiña, where supposedly she was acommodated when arrived in Santiago.

At the moment, there is a massive wild fire near Carminha, I have heard... There are in total 5 fires in the whole north of Portugal crying: Viana do Castelo is affected too

What a bad news Amancio
Hope they get everything under control.
