Finding Private Accommodation for a Coastal Route Trip - Tips and Recommendations

We are 4 females walking the coastal route early May 23. We don't really want to stay in albergues, preferring private hostels or small hotels. Would we need to book accommodation for our entire trip in advance, a few nights ahead or would it be OK just to arrive st a town and find accommodation. I wondered if trying to find 4 single beds available would be a problem.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I’m a big supporter of accepting the accommodation that you find, and think that by not making reservations the Camino urges you into making certain concession about your expectations. For the better.

But if you think that your little group is not flexible in that way I would recommend making a few reservations. 4 single rooms might mean having to split up on some days (same city, different hotel).

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

We stayed at the Litos al Alojamento Local in Caminha this past September. It’s right on the Camino as you enter Caminha from the south, though about a kilometer from the town center. It’s a small apartment hotel with adjoining bakery, which made for an excellent breakfast. Our lodging was clean and consisted of two bedrooms with queen-sized beds, plus kitchenette, and good sized bathroom with excellent shower. It wasn’t fancy but completely adequate. We loved Caminha.

In a situation like that, I would agree with wise pilgrim that booking ahead is advisable. What we usually did was book about three days in advance with free cancellation. If your schedule changes, you can always revise your itinerary on the fly. I suspect what you'll mostly end up doing is booking two rooms with two single beds and you'll need to reserve ahead to make sure you're all accommodated.
