I’m so excited to start our last section of our Camino from Astorga to Santiago in a week(May). Last two times we did it in the hot July months. I’m not sure how the weather and temperature be like in May and in the higher altitude. Any recommendations and advices are welcome! Thanks!!

Drink before you get thirsty. Take the time to smell the roses.

May is my favorite time on the Camino. Barring unforeseen changes in weather patterns, you will be much more comfortable walking during the day and sleeping at night than in July.

Buen Camino!

Astorga to Santiago does not really have very long stretches without bars/cafes. You can always refill.

Maybe after Sarria you might want to finish by 3pm if you are running out of water. There the village bars close in the afternoon for good.

If the weather gets too hot for you then just concider starting and hour or two before sunrise to make up for the distance that you would do less because of heat. Before sunrise I barely need to drink any water even in mid Summer.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Enjoy the fields of poppies! My first walk, right up there with my other walks. Buen Camino!
